John Poli is Director of Manufacturing at the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC), the UK's national battery manufacturing development facility based in Coventry. He leads UKBIC's Manufacturing function, bringing together operations, manufacturing engineering, and digital implementation. In this role, he is responsible for developing the systems, processes, and capabilities needed to help bridge the gap between emerging battery technologies and large-scale industrial production. John has more than 35 years of experience in the automotive industry, with a career spanning manufacturing operations, engineering, and industrial transformation. He spent the majority of his career at Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), where he held a range of senior leadership positions across manufacturing and manufacturing engineering. During this time, he and his teams played a key role in introducing advanced production systems for new engine programmes and in planning the transition to electric drive and battery technologies for the next generation of vehicles. At UKBIC, John draws on his extensive experience in high-volume automotive manufacturing and electrification technologies to support the growth of a competitive, sustainable battery manufacturing industry in the UK.
