Richard Noble OBE is a British entrepreneur, record-breaking engineer, and pioneering project leader best known for directing the Thrust 2 and Thrust SSC programmes, which set the World Land Speed Record (633.468 mph) and the first supersonic land speed record (Mach 1.020). He later led the Bloodhound SSC programme, one of the world’s largest STEM outreach initiatives, engaging over two million students globally and advancing ultra-high-speed engineering research. Across a career spanning five decades, Richard has founded and directed multiple high-impact ventures in aviation, automotive, marine, and advanced technology sectors, including ARV Aviation, Atlantic Sprinter, and Thrust Boats Ltd. His work consistently bridges cutting-edge engineering, innovation funding, and large-scale programme delivery. An Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), Richard has received numerous international honours for engineering excellence and leadership, and is widely recognised for combining extreme engineering achievement with public engagement, education, and inspirational communication.
